November Jobs Up 1.6 Percent From November 2022

JUNEAU, Alaska — November’s statewide job count was up by 5,000, or 1.6 percent, from November 2022.
Health care added 1,300 jobs, with the strongest growth in hospitals. Leisure and hospitality was up 800 over the year, mainly in restaurants and bars. The mining sector added 800 jobs, professional and business services gained 700 and the transportation, warehousing and utilities sector and other services both added 500.
Most Alaska industries grew, but construction, manufacturing and information were flat while financial activities was down by 200 jobs.
Government job growth was led by local government, which includes public schools (500), followed by federal government (400). State government lost 400 jobs over the year.
Alaska’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4.4 percent in November and the comparable U.S. rate was 3.7 percent.
