Alaska's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for March 2011 was 7.4%, down from 8.2% a year ago, according to the Alaska Department of Labor's March unemployment statistics. The U.S. unemployment rate for March was 8.8%, down from 9.7% a year ago. This is the 28th month that Alaska's unemployment rate has been below the national rate - in past years Alaska's rate trended several percentage points higher than the national rate.
